R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on |
|
January 21, 2025, with the passing of David Wayne Frost of Longview |
|
at the age of 89; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Henry Franklin Frost and Lena Mae Pierce |
|
Frost, Wayne Frost was born in a farmhouse near Itasca in 1935; he |
|
spent his formative years in the Rio Grande Valley, graduating from |
|
Edinburg High School before going on to attend Pan American |
|
Regional College and Texas Tech University; he earned a degree in |
|
petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University in 1958; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Mr. Frost served in the |
|
United States Army, and while stationed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, |
|
Georgia, he met the love of his life, the former Freida Hamilton |
|
Strauss; the couple exchanged vows on December 29, 1959, and they |
|
went on to share a rewarding 65-year marriage; he took great pride |
|
in their three children, Sharla, Shelly, and David, and he had the |
|
pleasure of seeing his family eventually grow to include nine |
|
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Frost began his 31-year tenure with the Sun Oil |
|
Company as a petroleum engineer, working in the Rio Grande Valley |
|
and Longview before receiving his final assignment as an operations |
|
manager in Edmond, Oklahoma; active in his communities, he served |
|
on the Pine Tree Independent School District Board of Trustees and |
|
the Longview City Council, and he also coached various youth |
|
sports; as the parents of three Baylor alumni, he and his wife were |
|
involved with a number of the school's organizations, and they were |
|
named "Baylor Parents of the Year" in 1990; Mr. Frost was also a man |
|
of strong faith, and he was a deacon, choir member, and Sunday |
|
school teacher at churches in McAllen, Edmond, and Longview; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the death of Wayne Frost brings immeasurable |
|
sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a record of |
|
service that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of David Wayne Frost and extend |
|
heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Freida Frost; to his children, Sharla Frost Struffolino and her |
|
husband, Mike, Shelly Frost Joseph and her husband, George Eric, |
|
and David Wayne Frost Jr. and his wife, Lyndy; to his brother, |
|
Charles Frost; to his grandchildren, Sydney Joseph Brown, Elizabeth |
|
Struffolino Buscher, Sadie Joseph, Michael Struffolino, Victoria |
|
Frost, Lauren Struffolino, George Aaron Joseph, Caroline Frost, and |
|
David Anderson Frost; to his great-grandchildren, Peyton, Mason, |
|
Wade, and Lily; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Wayne Frost. |
