Theodore Swenson Jr. |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|
|
memories of Theodore August Swenson Jr. of Bullard, who passed |
|
|
away on January 19, 2025, at the age of 92; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on December 7, 1932, Ted Swenson was |
|
|
the son of Theodore and Ella Mae Swenson, and he grew up with the |
|
|
companionship of his sister, Rubena; after attending schools in |
|
|
Tyler, he graduated from Kemper Military School in Boonville, |
|
|
Missouri, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the |
|
|
University of Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson served in the United States Navy as an |
|
|
electronics technician aboard the USS Orion; he then embarked on |
|
|
his civilian career as a chemist, eventually working his way up |
|
|
to management for Dow Chemical in Freeport before retiring in |
|
|
1990; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson married the former Esther Leigh in |
|
|
1958, and they became the proud parents of two sons, Stuart and |
|
|
Danny; following Mrs. Swenson's passing in 1998, Mr. Swenson was |
|
|
fortunate enough to find love again with Martha Smith, whom he |
|
|
wed in 2000, and he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|
|
include six stepchildren, Teresa, Mari, Gina, Michael, David, |
|
|
and Stephen; he also cherished his two granddaughters, Kaylene |
|
|
and Cassie, his great-granddaughter, Avery, and a host of |
|
|
step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; in his leisure |
|
|
time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife at their cabin in |
|
|
Lake City, Colorado, as well as playing golf, hunting, fishing, |
|
|
and traveling; he was a dedicated member of Marvin Methodist |
|
|
Church, where he served as an usher for two decades, and Emerald |
|
|
Bay Community Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Ted Swenson |
|
|
leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|
|
richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |
|
|
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Theodore August |
|
|
Swenson Jr. and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
|
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Ted Swenson. |
