R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their |
|
memories of Theodore August Swenson Jr. of Bullard, who passed away |
|
on January 19, 2025, at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Tyler on December 7, 1932, Ted Swenson was |
|
the son of Theodore and Ella Mae Swenson, and he grew up with the |
|
companionship of his sister, Rubena; after attending schools in |
|
Tyler, he graduated from Kemper Military School in Boonville, |
|
Missouri, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the |
|
University of Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson served in the United States Navy as an |
|
electronics technician aboard the USS Orion; he then embarked on |
|
his civilian career as a chemist, eventually working his way up to |
|
management for Dow Chemical in Freeport before retiring in 1990; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson married the former Esther Leigh in 1958, |
|
and they became the proud parents of two sons, Stuart and Danny; |
|
following Mrs. Swenson's passing in 1998, Mr. Swenson was |
|
fortunate enough to find love again with Martha Smith, whom he wed |
|
in 2000, and he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|
include six stepchildren, Teresa, Mari, Gina, Michael, David, and |
|
Stephen; he also cherished his two granddaughters, Kaylene and |
|
Cassie, his great-granddaughter, Avery, and a host of |
|
step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; in his leisure |
|
time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife at their cabin in Lake |
|
City, Colorado, as well as playing golf, hunting, fishing, and |
|
traveling; he was a dedicated member of Marvin Methodist Church, |
|
where he served as an usher for two decades, and Emerald Bay |
|
Community Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Ted Swenson |
|
leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|
richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |
|
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Theodore August Swenson Jr. and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Ted Swenson. |
