SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
join the citizens of Waco in celebrating Waco Day at the State |
|
|
Capitol on March 19, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1849 as a village on the banks of the |
|
|
Bosque and Blanco Rivers, Waco marked its 175th anniversary with |
|
|
a yearlong celebration concluding in March of 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The city remains a center of education, commerce, |
|
|
and tourism and is home to numerous culturally significant |
|
|
spaces, including the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, Waco |
|
|
Mammoth National Monument, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Dr |
|
|
Pepper Museum, and Cameron Park Zoo; Waco is also renowned for |
|
|
such higher education institutions as Baylor University, |
|
|
McLennan Community College, Tarleton State University's Waco |
|
|
campus, and Texas State Technical College; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Visitors and residents alike enjoy premier |
|
|
shopping and dining opportunities as well as natural attractions |
|
|
and recreational activities on the Brazos and Bosque Rivers, Lake |
|
|
Waco, and at the city's many parks, which showcase the scenic |
|
|
beauty of live oaks, Spanish oaks, and cedar elms; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Citizens of Waco may take great pride in their |
|
|
city's rich history and dynamic growth that make it a vital part |
|
|
of the Lone Star State, and Waco Day provides a welcome |
|
|
opportunity for all to celebrate this outstanding community as it |
|
|
looks ahead to an even brighter future; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Waco Day at the |
|
|
Capitol and extend to the people of Waco best wishes for a |
|
|
memorable 175th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the visiting delegation in honor of this occasion. |
