SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 283
|
|
WHEREAS, Sherman County and District Clerk Laura Rogers |
|
played a critical role in saving the life of a fellow citizen at |
|
the State Capitol on May 29, 2024; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Rogers, a former paramedic, was attending a |
|
Texas Senate hearing on the day of the incident when she noticed a |
|
man experiencing a health emergency; after helping to move the |
|
man to the floor, she began a medical assessment and determined |
|
that he had a faint pulse; she then initiated CPR and requested an |
|
automated external defibrillator, which she subsequently used |
|
three times; and |
|
WHEREAS, Upon the arrival of EMS personnel, Ms. Rogers |
|
provided them with essential information, and the man was taken |
|
to a nearby hospital for further treatment; ultimately, he was |
|
able to make a full recovery; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through her skill and quick thinking, Laura |
|
Rogers helped to avert a potential tragedy, and she is truly |
|
deserving of special recognition for her outstanding efforts; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Laura Rogers for her lifesaving |
|
actions on May 29, 2024, and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Rogers as an expression of high regard from the |
|
Texas Senate. |
