SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 315
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Senior Deputy Mike Aleman of the Hidalgo County |
|
|
Sheriff's Office for his outstanding bravery in saving the life |
|
|
of a fellow Texan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While traveling home on the night of February 22, |
|
|
2025, Deputy Mike Aleman observed flames and smoke emerging from |
|
|
a mobile home in McAllen; though he was off-duty at the time, when |
|
|
he learned of a person inside the burning home, he forced entry |
|
|
and was able to pull a man to safety from the intense smoke and |
|
|
heat of the fire; the McAllen Fire Department arrived shortly |
|
|
after, and Deputy Aleman and the victim were transported to a |
|
|
local hospital where the deputy was treated for smoke inhalation |
|
|
and released; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Thanks to the quick thinking and decisive action |
|
|
of Deputy Aleman, the victim survived the deadly fire and was |
|
|
transported to San Antonio to receive further treatment for burns |
|
|
and smoke inhalation; the mobile home was consumed by the fire |
|
|
and declared a total loss, and the incident undoubtedly would |
|
|
have proved fatal if not for Deputy Aleman's critical and timely |
|
|
rescue of the victim; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deputy Aleman has faced the unique challenges of |
|
|
law enforcement duty with courage and professionalism, and his |
|
|
selfless actions in this life-threatening situation reflect his |
|
|
unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the public; for |
|
|
his heroic efforts, he will be awarded the Hidalgo County |
|
|
Sheriff's Office Medal of Valor and will receive a commendation |
|
|
from the McAllen Fire Department in recognition of his |
|
|
exceptional service in the line of duty; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Senior Deputy Mike Aleman on his |
|
|
admirable and courageous actions that saved the life of a fellow |
|
|
Texan; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
