SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 342
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Maria Guadalupe Ortiz of Corpus Christi is |
|
|
celebrating her 100th birthday on April 22, 2025, and this joyous |
|
|
occasion provides a welcome opportunity for family and friends to |
|
|
express the love and affection they hold for her; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1925, Lupe Ortiz was born in Robstown; on |
|
|
March 2, 1952, she exchanged wedding vows with Augustin "Tex" |
|
|
Villarreal; blessed with five children, the couple shared a |
|
|
rewarding marriage that spanned 57 years before Mr. Villarreal's |
|
|
death in 2009; today, this beloved woman is the proud matriarch |
|
|
of a fine family that has grown to include many grandchildren and |
|
|
great-grandchildren, and she takes pleasure in engaging with her |
|
|
loved ones through the activity of coloring; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ortiz and her husband both worked for the |
|
|
Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District, and she |
|
|
distinguished herself over the course of her 44-year tenure; in |
|
|
retirement, she and Mr. Villarreal enjoyed traveling together |
|
|
and cherished time spent with their family above all else; a |
|
|
woman of faith, she is a longtime member of St. Theresa Catholic |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Lupe Ortiz is a source of tremendous inspiration, |
|
|
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life |
|
|
well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits |
|
|
all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Maria Guadalupe Ortiz on her |
|
|
100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Lupe Ortiz as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
