SENATE RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Feeding Texas and to join its members in celebrating
  Texas Food Bank Day at the State Capitol on April 2, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1986, the Feeding Texas network
  consists of 20 food banks that collaborate with more than 3,000
  community agencies to reduce hunger and improve health in all 254
  Texas counties; and
         WHEREAS, Feeding Texas upholds its charitable mission
  through numerous public-private partnerships, including working
  with the Texas Department of Agriculture to administer the Texans
  Feeding Texans Surplus Agricultural Products Grant Program; this
  highly successful initiative helps feed low-income families by
  offering incentives to growers to donate fresh produce, and it
  has resulted in the distribution of 500 million pounds of surplus
  produce across the state; and
         WHEREAS, Members of Feeding Texas also have teamed up with
  the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to offer nutrition
  education and disease prevention services; through the
  partnership, the network has increased the efficiency and
  efficacy for existing clients and has provided application
  assistance with the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program;
  and
         WHEREAS, By leveraging their expertise and experience,
  network food banks are able to respond swiftly to families in
  times of crisis, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, they delivered
  more than two billion pounds of food to Texans in need; and
         WHEREAS, Feeding Texas is reducing hunger while
  contributing greatly to the health and well-being of the people
  of the Lone Star State, and all who help to advance its worthwhile
  efforts are truly deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby commend the staff and volunteers of Feeding
  Texas for working to end hunger and improve health for all Texans
  and extend best wishes to all for a memorable Texas Food Bank Day
  at the Capitol; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
