SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 369
         WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
  cause for celebration, and Adelle Marie Bentley Holland of Lubbock is
  marking this momentous milestone in her life on August 30, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, An Amarillo native, the former Adelle Bentley was
  born to Myrtle Ellen Vore Bentley and Lloyd Vain Bentley in 1925; she
  grew up with an older sister, Regina, and her mother instilled in her
  daughters a love of reading by taking them to the library every other
  weekend; in the summers, she pitched in on her uncle's farm and
  enjoyed fishing at the family cabin in the mountains of New Mexico;
  she got engaged to her high school sweetheart, Leon Frank Holland,
  and when he was deployed to the Pacific Theater during World War II,
  she joined her sister on the West Coast to wait for him; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Holland married in San Francisco in 1945
  and then settled in Lubbock, where they completed their degrees at
  Texas Tech University; Mrs. Holland was employed in the university's
  library and assisted in the establishment of its Southwest
  Collection, and the experience sparked her passion for library
  science; while raising three children, David, Ginger, and Melissa,
  Mrs. Holland devoted herself to her family and supported her husband
  in his career; in 1974, they moved to the Dallas area, and Mrs.
  Holland joined the staff of the Plano Independent School District; as
  the area grew rapidly, she helped open libraries at five new
  campuses; following the tragic loss of their youngest daughter, Mr.
  and Mrs. Holland moved to the Holly Lake Ranch community in East
  Texas; she founded the Holly Tree Library as a resource for local
  schools and as a gathering place for the community; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Holland remained active in Holly Lake Ranch
  after the passing of her husband in 1999; she served as the beloved
  local librarian until the death of her son in 2014 prompted her
  return to Lubbock; building on her long record of service, she then
  transformed the reading room at Raider Ranch into a full-functioning
  library, and she still works there today; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, Adelle Holland has
  enriched the lives of innumerable people, and her wisdom,
  resilience, and dedication are a source of inspiration to all who
  are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Adelle Marie Bentley Holland on
  the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Holland as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
