SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 370
|
|
WHEREAS, Aaron F. Reitz has been appointed assistant |
|
attorney general of the U.S. Department of Justice Office of |
|
Legal Policy; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his new role at the helm of the Office of Legal |
|
Policy, Mr. Reitz will oversee the development and |
|
implementation of DOJ's policy initiatives, and he will help to |
|
carry out special projects for the department; he brings to the |
|
position a wealth of experience in law and politics; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Reitz previously served as chief of staff in |
|
the office of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, where he played an |
|
instrumental role in advancing legislative efforts and public |
|
relations campaigns on issues that included border security, |
|
technological investment, economic activity, and |
|
infrastructure; he also oversaw several regional offices across |
|
Texas as well as teams focused on the work of the Senate Commerce, |
|
Judiciary, and Foreign Relations Committees; and |
|
WHEREAS, Prior to working with Senator Cruz, Mr. Reitz |
|
served as deputy attorney general for legal strategy for the |
|
State of Texas; over the course of his tenure, he planned, |
|
staffed, and executed lawsuits and legal initiatives on such |
|
issues as immigration, federal-state-local relations, and |
|
election integrity, and he directed the agency's lawsuits |
|
opposing the policies of the Biden administration; in addition, |
|
he was senior advisor to Attorney General Ken Paxton's successful |
|
2022 reelection campaign; and |
|
WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, |
|
Mr. Reitz served on active duty for nearly five years and |
|
deployed to Afghanistan; he later graduated from The University |
|
of Texas at Austin School of Law; a skilled attorney, he |
|
practiced corporate law and commercial litigation in Houston and |
|
Austin, and he clerked for Justice Jimmy Blacklock on the Texas |
|
Supreme Court; and |
|
WHEREAS, The effective operation of government depends on |
|
the able and dedicated efforts of our public servants, and Aaron |
|
Reitz may reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he takes |
|
on the challenges and opportunities of his new position; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Aaron F. Reitz on his |
|
appointment as assistant attorney general of the U.S. Department |
|
of Justice Office of Legal Policy and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Reitz as an expression of high regard from the |
|
Texas Senate. |
