R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The celebration of Jack and Jill of America Day at
  the State Capitol on April 7, 2025, offers a welcome opportunity to
  honor the organization's South Central Region; and
         WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America was founded in 1938 in an
  effort to cultivate future generations of African American leaders
  by providing youth between the ages of 2 and 19 with opportunities
  related to leadership development, volunteer service,
  philanthropic giving, and civic duty; the organization is composed
  of mothers and their children, and its programming includes service
  projects, lobbying, educational development, and the coordination
  of community and charitable events; today, it works with more than
  50,000 family members in 271 chapters nationwide; and
         WHEREAS, The Houston and New Orleans, Louisiana, chapters of
  Jack and Jill of America were chartered in 1952; the groups came
  together five years later to form the organization's South Central
  Region, which currently encompasses 38 chapters across Texas, New
  Mexico, and Louisiana; the region serves 2,116 mothers and 1,827
  fathers, as well as 1,360 associates and life members, and its
  programs are attended by 1,996 children and 2,011 teenagers; and
         WHEREAS, The South Central Region of Jack and Jill of America
  has helped shape generations of leaders in the Lone Star State and
  beyond, and the organization's invaluable contributions are indeed
  worthy of recognition on this special occasion; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby recognize April 7, 2025, as Jack and Jill of America Day at
  the State Capitol and extend to all those affiliated with the
  organization's South Central Region sincere best wishes for
  continued success.
