SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 381

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Duncanville High School boys' basketball team, which recently won the University Interscholastic League Class 6A Division 1 state championship; and

WHEREAS, The Duncanville Panthers were victorious in winning their sixth state championship, defeating Houston Bellaire High School by a score of 54-52 on March 9, 2025, in a hard-fought victory at the Alamodome in San Antonio; and

WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the school year, and team members can take pride in their outstanding accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership of head coach David Peavy and assistant coaches Christopher Thomas, Jay Cosme, Darrin Session, and Brent Jones, the Panthers have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and

WHEREAS, Duncanville High School and the City of Duncanville are proud of the Panthers for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commend the Duncanville Panthers boys' basketball team on their successful season and congratulate them on winning the Class 6A Division 1 state championship; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
