R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Friends of the Dallas Public Library is marking the
  75th anniversary of its founding in 2025, and this occasion
  provides a welcome opportunity to recognize the organization's
  outstanding record of service to the residents of Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1950, this venerable nonprofit
  organization helps support the Dallas Public Library's 30 locations
  and nearly 400 employees; by launching grassroots campaigns and
  securing grants, the group has raised funds that have allowed the
  library to expand hours, increase staffing, install Reading Ready
  Play Spaces at all branches, and finance staff development, early
  childhood literacy, child and adult education programs, and
  multicultural family programming; moreover, the organization
  played a vital role in passing a 2017 bond that funded the
  construction of a new library, the replacement of another, and a
  range of improvements at the central branch; and
         WHEREAS, For three quarters of a century, Friends of the
  Dallas Public Library has advocated for the library and supported
  its mission to strengthen the community and build equity by
  connecting people, inspiring curiosity, and advancing lives, and it
  is a privilege to honor the organization on this important
  milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of Friends of the Dallas
  Public Library and extend to all those associated with the group
  sincere best wishes for continued success with their important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
