SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Burleson County Chamber of Commerce, which is |
|
|
celebrating its 100th anniversary on April 3, 2025, with a |
|
|
special event held in Caldwell; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Local leaders in the business, farming, and |
|
|
banking industries organized the Burleson County Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce in 1925 to promote civic improvement and economic |
|
|
prosperity in the area; in 1935, the chamber changed its name to |
|
|
the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, and a 1937 newspaper article |
|
|
reported that all but two area businesses had joined the thriving |
|
|
organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, the chamber has supported a |
|
|
wide range of civic and infrastructure development projects to |
|
|
address the evolving needs of area businesses, farms, and |
|
|
industries and to improve the quality of life for county |
|
|
residents; its many accomplishments include organizing the |
|
|
Burleson County Industrial Foundation and establishing the |
|
|
Kolache Festival, a cultural celebration that has grown to become |
|
|
one of the county's major annual events; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Burleson County Chamber of Commerce readopted |
|
|
its original name in June of 1998, when the Caldwell and |
|
|
Somerville Chambers of Commerce merged to reestablish a |
|
|
countywide chamber of commerce that would serve the needs of |
|
|
communities throughout all of Burleson County; the chamber has |
|
|
continued to work to improve the lives and livelihoods of the |
|
|
county's residents and to promote a robust and thriving business |
|
|
community, and it is indeed fitting that the chamber's members |
|
|
celebrate its century of contributions to Burleson County; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Burleson County |
|
|
Chamber of Commerce for their outstanding efforts on behalf of |
|
|
the people of Burleson County and extend best wishes to all for a |
|
|
memorable 100th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
