Reuben Booker Harrison |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Reuben Booker Harrison, who died |
|
|
March 19, 2025, at the age of 55; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Beaumont on June 18, 1969, Booker grew up in |
|
|
Houston and attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory school; he |
|
|
earned a bachelor's degree in economics from The University of |
|
|
Texas at Austin, and he went on to earn a master's degree in |
|
|
business administration and a juris doctorate from Texas Tech |
|
|
University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Esteemed for his keen legal understanding and deep |
|
|
commitment to public service, Mr. Harrison made significant |
|
|
contributions to environmental law and policy during his |
|
|
outstanding career at the Texas Commission on Environmental |
|
|
Quality; he excelled as an enforcement attorney and as a senior |
|
|
attorney in the Litigation Division, and he was highly regarded for |
|
|
his experience and insight in areas including air quality and issues |
|
|
of legal ethics; he most recently held the role of senior attorney |
|
|
for the Environmental Law Division, and his exemplary tenure of |
|
|
service with the commission spanned nearly three decades; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Booker enjoyed spending time with his friends and |
|
|
loved ones and had an encyclopedic knowledge of films, and he took |
|
|
great pride in his work and in his home state; he was a light in the |
|
|
lives of his colleagues and friends, through his kindness, his |
|
|
engaging sense of humor, and his generous spirit, and he found much |
|
|
joy and fulfillment in his cherished role as godfather to his two |
|
|
godsons; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Booker Harrison was a treasured Texan who made a |
|
|
lasting and positive impact on environmental law and policy in |
|
|
the Lone Star State; he enriched the lives of all who knew him, |
|
|
and he will long be remembered with great appreciation and |
|
|
affection by the many people who were privileged to share in his |
|
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Reuben Booker Harrison; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Booker Harrison. |
