SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 427
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History is |
|
|
celebrating its 10th anniversary in April 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding organization traces its roots to |
|
|
2014, when B. Alan Bourgeois established the first museum |
|
|
dedicated to preserving the legacy of Texas authors; since its |
|
|
inception, the nonprofit has curated a comprehensive collection |
|
|
of rare manuscripts, first editions, personal papers, and other |
|
|
literary artifacts, helping to ensure that the state's rich |
|
|
literary history is accessible to researchers, historians, |
|
|
educators, and the general public; in addition, the organization |
|
|
has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting the |
|
|
publishing industry in Texas, which annually generates more than |
|
|
$500 million in tax revenue; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, TAMIH has worked to enhance literary education |
|
|
through partnerships with schools, libraries, and cultural |
|
|
institutions; the organization has also established a number of |
|
|
educational outreach programs such as writing workshops, |
|
|
lectures, book signings, and other special events to foster |
|
|
appreciation for literature and to help to develop future |
|
|
authors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year, TAMIH is marking its 10th anniversary |
|
|
with a variety of fun and engaging programs; the organization is |
|
|
hosting the Y'all Write Challenge in March, and during its Lone |
|
|
Star Festival in June, it plans to set a world record by featuring |
|
|
120 Texas authors who will read from their published works for |
|
|
more than 30 hours; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By highlighting the stories and achievements of |
|
|
Texas authors, TAMIH is enriching the cultural fabric of the Lone |
|
|
Star State and inspiring future generations of writers, and the |
|
|
organization is indeed worthy of special recognition on this |
|
|
special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the |
|
|
Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History and extend to all |
|
|
those affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes for |
|
|
the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for TAMIH as an expression of high regard from the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
