R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History is |
|
|
celebrating its 10th anniversary in April 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding organization traces its roots to |
|
|
2014, when B. Alan Bourgeois established the first museum dedicated |
|
|
to preserving the legacy of Texas authors; since its inception, the |
|
|
nonprofit has curated a comprehensive collection of rare |
|
|
manuscripts, first editions, personal papers, and other literary |
|
|
artifacts, helping to ensure that the state's rich literary history |
|
|
is accessible to researchers, historians, educators, and the |
|
|
general public; in addition, the organization has demonstrated a |
|
|
steadfast commitment to supporting the publishing industry in |
|
|
Texas, which annually generates more than $500 million in tax |
|
|
revenue; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, TAMIH has worked to enhance literary education |
|
|
through partnerships with schools, libraries, and cultural |
|
|
institutions; the organization has also established a number of |
|
|
educational outreach programs such as writing workshops, lectures, |
|
|
book signings, and other special events to foster appreciation for |
|
|
literature and to help to develop future authors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year, TAMIH is marking its 10th anniversary |
|
|
with a variety of fun and engaging programs; the organization is |
|
|
hosting the Y'all Write Challenge in March, and during its Lone Star |
|
|
Festival in June, it plans to set a world record by featuring 120 |
|
|
Texas authors who will read from their published works for more than |
|
|
30 hours; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By highlighting the stories and achievements of |
|
|
Texas authors, TAMIH is enriching the cultural fabric of the Lone |
|
|
Star State and inspiring future generations of writers, and the |
|
|
organization is indeed worthy of special recognition on this |
|
|
special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Texas Authors Museum & |
|
|
Institute of History and extend to all those affiliated with the |
|
|
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for TAMIH as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
