SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 476
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr is retiring from |
|
the U.S. Coast Guard on August 31, 2025, drawing to a close more |
|
than two decades of exceptional service to his country; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Seguin, Eric Uhr enlisted in the U.S. |
|
Coast Guard in June 2005; he underwent basic military training at |
|
Training Center Cape May in New Jersey, and he completed his |
|
first assignment as a deck seaman aboard the USCG cutter Edisto |
|
in California; he has since carried out a range of duties, |
|
including serving as the executive petty officer and the officer |
|
in charge for the Aids to Navigation Team South Padre Island, as |
|
the first lieutenant of Station Port Aransas, and as the training |
|
team chief for the ANT Seventeenth Coast Guard District Waterways |
|
Branch in Alaska; in addition, he was the operations petty |
|
officer of the ANT in Louisiana and a deck watch officer and the |
|
deck leading petty officer for the USCG cutter Resolute in |
|
Florida; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Uhr graduated from the Chief Petty |
|
Officers Academy and is an initiated member of the South Texas |
|
Chapter of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association |
|
Chief's Mess, and he is retiring with the title of boatswain's |
|
mate chief petty officer; he has distinguished himself over the |
|
course of his military tenure, receiving the Coast Guard |
|
Commendation Medal with one gold star and an operational |
|
distinguishing device, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal with |
|
two gold stars and an operational distinguishing device, and the |
|
permanent Officer in Charge Ashore, Advanced Boat Forces, and |
|
Coxswain Insignias; moreover, he has been honored with numerous |
|
other personal, service, and team awards; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Uhr enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Amber, and their two children, Kenneth |
|
and Carlee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Eric Uhr's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have contributed greatly to the defense |
|
of our nation and earned him the respect and admiration of his |
|
fellow service members, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a |
|
career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
|
his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Chief Petty Officer Eric B. Uhr |
|
on his retirement from the U.S. Coast Guard and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Uhr as an expression of high regard from the |
|
Texas Senate. |
