R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Eliberto Ramiro Cavazos on December 20,
  2023, at the age of 79; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Alonzo Cavazos and Evangelina Ledesma,
  Ramiro Cavazos was born on February 27, 1944, and he grew up with 12
  siblings, Perla, Omega, Melba, Ida, Alonzo, Daniel, Jose, Rodolfo,
  Juan, Arturo, Evangelina, and Linda; he served in both the United
  States Air Force and the Texas State Guard, and over the course of
  his civilian career, he worked in farming and ranching and as a
  warehouse clerk for the City of Raymondville; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Cavazos held the
  positions of city commissioner and interim mayor of San Perlita; in
  addition, he served on the board of the Willacy County Emergency
  Services District and as the vice commander of American Legion Post
  390, where he also led the honor guard; in his leisure hours, he
  took pleasure in working in his yard and spending time with his
  loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cavazos enjoyed a rewarding marriage of 55 years
  with his wife, Enedelia; he was a devoted father to their five
  children, Eva, Eliberto, Elizabeth, Roxana, and Eric, and over the
  years, his treasured family grew to include five grandchildren,
  Adrian, Abriem, Valerie, Noah, and Elijah, and two
  great-grandchildren, Abriem and Graham; and
         WHEREAS, Although Ramiro Cavazos is greatly missed, he has
  left his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he
  will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Eliberto Ramiro Cavazos and extend
  sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Ramiro Cavazos.
