SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 484
         WHEREAS, Bryan Collier, executive director of the Texas
  Department of Criminal Justice, has served the agency with
  distinction for nearly four decades; and
         WHEREAS, Joining TDCJ in 1985, Mr. Collier worked as a
  clerk, correctional and patrol officer, section director, and
  parole division director before becoming executive director in
  2016; in his current role, he oversees the operations of one of
  the country's largest adult criminal justice systems, which is
  responsible for the care and confinement of more than 130,000
  felony inmates, supervises 230,000 inmates on probation or
  parole, and employs approximately 30,000 men and women across the
  state; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Sam Houston State University,
  Mr. Collier holds a bachelor's degree in criminology and
  corrections; active in a number of professional organizations,
  he has chaired various committees in the Correctional Leaders
  Association, has served as president of the Texas Corrections
  Association, and is currently vice president of the American
  Correctional Association; in recognition of his efforts, he
  received the 2013 Dr. George J. Beto Hall of Honor Award from
  TCA, the 2022 Michael Francke Career Achievement Award from CLA,
  and a 2025 E. R. Cass Correctional Achievement Award from ACA;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication, integrity, and visionary
  leadership, Bryan Collier has made a lasting and positive impact
  at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and in the field of
  corrections, and he is truly deserving of special recognition;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby honor Bryan Collier for his 40 years of
  service to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Collier as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
