SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 513
|
|
|
WHEREAS, High school graduation is one of life's pivotal |
|
|
milestones, and the members of the fourth class of Miles Ahead |
|
|
Scholars are participating in that joyful rite of passage with |
|
|
their graduation from the Houston Independent School District in |
|
|
2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2019, the Miles Ahead Scholars |
|
|
Program aims to improve educational outcomes and increase |
|
|
enrollment of African American and Latino male students at the |
|
|
nation's most selective universities; the program provides |
|
|
academic support and enrichment opportunities such as |
|
|
mentorship, travel experiences, tutoring, and college and career |
|
|
counseling in order to help prepare high school students for |
|
|
success in higher education; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This year, 22 Miles Ahead Scholars are graduating |
|
|
from high school: Osvaldo Sandoval, Clymond Judson Hill, Jamal |
|
|
Matin Burnett, Joseph Andrews, Brandon Artero, Marice Campbell, |
|
|
Felix Castillo, Darrell Cox, Daniel Estrada, Miguel Angel Garza, |
|
|
Leonidas Hernandez, Regulo Martinex-Jimenez, Jamar Pinson, Angel |
|
|
Rodriguez Osorio, James Eddie Williams, Broderick Alexander, |
|
|
Jaronne Carter, Tyrin Dwayne Clemmons, Elian Gomez Hernandez, |
|
|
Dante Laurent, Anthony Razo, and Richard Anthony Vasquez; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await these |
|
|
outstanding young Texans, and they may reflect with pride on |
|
|
their achievements as they embark on a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Miles Ahead |
|
|
Scholars Program Class of 2025 on their graduation and extend to |
|
|
them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the class as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
