SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 522

WHEREAS, A number of engaged citizens are working to build an even brighter future for the San Antonio community through their participation in the Latina Leadership Institute; and

WHEREAS, Established in 2015 by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, LLI seeks to increase the representation of Hispanic women in elected and appointed offices at the local, state, and national levels by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their political aspirations; and

WHEREAS, A six-month program, LLI provides a highly personalized experience and a supportive learning environment and offers insight from a host of civic and political leaders; since the initiative's founding, many of its graduates have gone on to serve on boards, run for office, pursue higher education, and start nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, Participants in the Latina Leadership Institute are demonstrating an admirable commitment to making a positive difference in the world around them, and they are indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby commend the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Latina Leadership Institute and extend to all those associated with the program sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
