SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 532
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Community Council of South Central Texas on the |
|
|
grand occasion of its 60th anniversary; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, This trusted charitable institution was founded |
|
|
as the Community Council of Comal County on May 11, 1965, to help |
|
|
families alleviate the sources and effects of poverty; the |
|
|
private nonprofit organization broadened its reach four months |
|
|
after opening to assist residents of Blanco County, and the |
|
|
council adopted its current name in 1971 to reflect the expansive |
|
|
region it began to cover; and |

|
|
WHEREAS, In the decades since its establishment, the |
|
|
Community Council of South Central Texas has upheld its mission |
|
|
to empower low-income individuals and families experiencing |
|
|
adversity, and today, the council helps to connect clients in 31 |
|
|
Texas counties with local, state, and federal resources and to |
|
|
help them gain the skills and knowledge needed to build a secure |
|
|
foundation for comfort and success in the future; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Community Council of South Central Texas |
|
|
operates with the belief that barriers to self-sufficiency can be |
|
|
eliminated through innovative programs and strong community |
|
|
partnerships; the organization has made a positive difference in |
|
|
the lives of innumerable citizens, and it is truly deserving of |
|
|
special recognition for 60 years of success and service to the |
|
|
community; now, therefore, be it |

|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the staff, partners, and |
|
|
community leaders of the Community Council of South Central Texas |
|
|
on the 60th anniversary of the organization and extend to all best |
|
|
wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
