SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 565

WHEREAS, Simran Makhani of Girl Scout Troop No. 4930 has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits recognition; and

WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Makhani demonstrated creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take Action project, Blankets for Refugees, that has resulted in lasting and positive change; in partnership with DFW Refugee Outreach Services, she created 100 fleece blankets to distribute to North Texas residents in need; the blankets were each accompanied by a handwritten note, offering solace and warmth to refugees of all ages during the winter months; and

WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging young women to explore educational and career opportunities and to become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens and leaders; and

WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Makhani has demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby congratulate Simran Makhani on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Ms. Makhani as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
