R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Simran Makhani of Girl Scout Troop No. 4930 has |
|
|
attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly |
|
|
merits recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Makhani demonstrated |
|
|
creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take Action |
|
|
project, Blankets for Refugees, that has resulted in lasting and |
|
|
positive change; in partnership with DFW Refugee Outreach Services, |
|
|
she created 100 fleece blankets to distribute to North Texas |
|
|
residents in need; the blankets were each accompanied by a |
|
|
handwritten note, offering solace and warmth to refugees of all |
|
|
ages during the winter months; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
|
|
young women to explore educational and career opportunities and to |
|
|
become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping |
|
|
its participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
|
|
citizens and leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Makhani has |
|
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
|
ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job |
|
|
well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby congratulate Simran Makhani on her receipt of the Girl Scout |
|
|
Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Makhani as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
