SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 571
         WHEREAS, Smrithi Thyagarajan of Girl Scout Troop No. 7399
  has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment
  truly merits recognition; and
         WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Thyagarajan
  demonstrated creativity, initiative, and leadership in
  completing a Take Action project that has resulted in lasting and
  positive change; by educating the community about autism
  spectrum disorder, she aims to create a more inclusive
  environment for individuals affected by ASD; to that end, she
  developed and performed engaging puppet shows at a local day care
  to teach children about ASD in an accessible and entertaining
  manner, and she also published the shows on YouTube to expand the
  reach of her project; in addition, she distributed more than 250
  brochures outlining the characteristics of ASD, interaction
  tips, and area resources to families and educators; and
         WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
  young women to explore educational and career opportunities and
  to become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is
  helping its participants to achieve their greatest potential as
  engaged citizens and leaders; and
         WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Thyagarajan
  has demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the
  highest ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride
  on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Smrithi Thyagarajan on her
  receipt of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Thyagarajan as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
