SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 573
         WHEREAS, Hiba Syed of Girl Scout Troop No. 2134 has
  attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly
  merits recognition; and
 
         WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Syed demonstrated
  creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take
  Action project that has resulted in lasting and positive change;
  recognizing a need among the youth in her community for improved
  access to personal hygiene products and education, she helped to
  install a number of toiletry cabinets at local mosques and
  partnered with the Kids Learning Center to teach children about
  their use; more than 70 individuals have participated in her
  series of workshops and classes, which have provided them with
  access to a wide variety of essential personal hygiene tools; and
 
         WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
  young women to explore educational and career opportunities and
  to become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is
  helping its participants to achieve their greatest potential as
  engaged citizens and leaders; and
 
         WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Syed has
  demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
  ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job
  well done; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Hiba Syed on her receipt of the
  Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Syed as an expression of high regard from the
  Texas Senate.
