R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Hiba Syed of Girl Scout Troop No. 2134 has attained |
|
|
the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits |
|
|
recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Syed demonstrated |
|
|
creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take Action |
|
|
project that has resulted in lasting and positive change; |
|
|
recognizing a need among the youth in her community for improved |
|
|
access to personal hygiene products and education, she helped to |
|
|
install a number of toiletry cabinets at local mosques and |
|
|
partnered with the Kids Learning Center to teach children about |
|
|
their use; more than 70 individuals have participated in her series |
|
|
of workshops and classes, which have provided them with access to a |
|
|
wide variety of essential personal hygiene tools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
|
|
young women to explore educational and career opportunities and to |
|
|
become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping |
|
|
its participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
|
|
citizens and leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Syed has |
|
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
|
ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job |
|
|
well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby congratulate Hiba Syed on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold |
|
|
Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success |
|
|
and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Syed as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
