SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 574

WHEREAS, Catelyn Armstrong of Girl Scout Troop No. 1414 has attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits recognition; and

WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Armstrong demonstrated creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take Action project that has resulted in lasting and positive change; for her project, she helped to support families in Grayson County experiencing or at risk of homelessness; with the assistance of volunteers, she organized a supply drive, installed a pantry collection box for donations, and created a video to educate the public and inspire empathy and understanding; and

WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging young women to explore educational and career opportunities and to become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged citizens and leaders; and

WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Armstrong has demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th Legislature, hereby congratulate Catelyn Armstrong on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Ms. Armstrong as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
