R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Ameerah Ahmed of Girl Scout Troop No. 8861 has |
|
|
attained the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly |
|
|
merits recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Ahmed demonstrated |
|
|
creativity, initiative, and leadership in completing a Take Action |
|
|
project that has resulted in lasting and positive change; in an |
|
|
effort to make Islamic teachings more engaging and accessible for |
|
|
young learners, she helped to enhance a classroom at the Kids |
|
|
Learning Center in Plano by painting a mural, hanging educational |
|
|
and decorative posters, and providing new books that support |
|
|
faith-based education; she also introduced a number of craft-based |
|
|
activities that allow students to embrace their cultural identity; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Ahmed has further distinguished herself as a |
|
|
member of the Class of 2025 at Lebanon Trail High School in Frisco; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging |
|
|
young women to explore educational and career opportunities and to |
|
|
become more socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping |
|
|
its participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged |
|
|
citizens and leaders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Ahmed has |
|
|
demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest |
|
|
ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may reflect with pride on a job |
|
|
well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
|
hereby congratulate Ameerah Ahmed on her receipt of the Girl Scout |
|
|
Gold Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Ahmed as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
Senate. |
