R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 55th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  mutual devotion and shared experiences, and John and Kay English of
  Mineola celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on
  October 24, 2024; and
         WHEREAS, John Perry English and the former Alice Kay Chaney
  graduated from Mineola High School in the early 1960s, and they were
  joined in matrimony in 1969; over the years, they have been blessed
  with a treasured family that includes their son and
  daughter-in-law, Chan and April English, as well as their
  grandchildren, Kathryn, Jakob, and Ashlyn; and
         WHEREAS, Both retired, Mrs. English worked as a registered
  nurse, and Mr. English was a certified public accountant with a
  master's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist
  University and a bachelor's degree in finance administration; the
  couple lived in Dallas during the early years of their marriage
  while Mr. English held positions with the Federal Reserve Bank of
  Dallas and the Republic of Texas Corporation, as well as with Clint
  Murchison, whom he assisted with various bank acquisitions; they
  returned home to Mineola in 1979 to run the Humble Oil and Refining
  Company distributorship in Wood County, where they also owned five
  gas stations; over the years, they have become valued members of the
  community and have enjoyed a number of memorable trips to such
  destinations as France, Germany, Amsterdam, Switzerland, and
  Austria; and
         WHEREAS, The more than five and a half decades of marriage
  that Mr. and Mrs. English have shared is eloquent affirmation of the
  meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an
  inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby congratulate John and Kay English on their 55th wedding
  anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. English as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas Senate.
