R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jeff Traylor, former head football coach at Gilmer
  High School, has been inducted into the Texas High School Football
  Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2025; and
         WHEREAS, A Gilmer native and a 1986 graduate of Gilmer High
  School, Jeff Traylor earned a spot on the Stephen F. Austin State
  University football team as a walk-on player; he began his coaching
  career in 1990 as an assistant at Big Sandy High School, and he
  subsequently served for seven years as a passing coordinator,
  defensive backs coach, receivers coach, and special teams
  coordinator at Jacksonville High School; and
         WHEREAS, In 2001, Coach Traylor took the helm of the gridiron
  squad at his high school alma mater; he built a powerhouse program
  during his tenure as Gilmer's head coach, leading the Buckeyes to
  state championships in 2004, 2009, and 2014, two state runner-up
  finishes, and 12 district crowns; a four-time Texas High School
  Coach of the Year, he posted an outstanding overall record of
  175-26, with his .871 winning percentage ranking 10th all-time in
  state high school football history; while at Gilmer, he also
  produced two perfect 16-0 seasons and three 15-win campaigns; and
         WHEREAS, Following his departure from Gilmer in 2014, Coach
  Traylor joined the coaching staffs at The University of Texas,
  Southern Methodist University, and the University of Arkansas,
  rising to the title of associate head coach at all three schools; in
  December 2019, he was named head football coach at The University of
  Texas at San Antonio; he immediately set about building a winning
  culture, and through five seasons, he has led the Roadrunners to a
  pair of conference championships and five consecutive bowl berths
  highlighted by back-to-back bowl victories in 2023 and 2024; and
         WHEREAS, Through his exceptional ability to mentor young
  athletes, Jeff Traylor has distinguished himself as one of the Lone
  Star State's elite football coaches, and he is indeed deserving of
  this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby congratulate Jeff Traylor on his induction into the Texas
  High School Football Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Coach Traylor as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
