R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of James Albert Hudson of White Oak on
  April 26, 2025, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Carthage on December 4, 1936, to Jeff and
  Cammie Hudson, "Dick" Hudson was the youngest of 10 children; he
  graduated from Carthage High School and Kilgore College, and he
  proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft radar technician
  while stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson went on to distinguish himself over the
  course of a career with the Texas Eastman Company that spanned
  nearly four decades; he worked in research and development at the
  Longview chemical complex, earning a reputation for his exemplary
  work ethic, high standards, and dedicated mentorship of the
  company's interns; and
         WHEREAS, Civically engaged, Mr. Hudson represented the
  Republican Party as a precinct chair, primary election judge, and
  assistant general election judge at the Gregg County Courthouse; he
  was also a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Woodland
  Christian Church and of First Christian Church in Longview, where
  he held many offices and served as a longtime Sunday school teacher;
  a skilled craftsman, he enjoyed making crosses, crèche nativity
  scenes, and walking canes and sharing them with others as gifts;
  some of his work adorns the classrooms and halls of First Christian
  Church; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hudson was blessed with
  the love and support of his wife, Betty Jo, with whom he shared a
  rewarding marriage of nearly half a century; together, the couple
  raised two daughters, Shannon and Sherri, and with the passage of
  time, they welcomed two grandchildren and a great-grandchild into
  their treasured family; and
         WHEREAS, Dick Hudson lived a full and generous life
  surrounded by those he loved, and they will forever carry him close
  in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Albert Hudson and extend
  deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Betty Jo
  Magness; to his daughters, Shannon Sasser and her husband, Tony,
  and Sherri Ware and her husband, Jamie; to his granddaughters,
  Heather Davis and Jordan Ware; to his great-grandson, Sutton Davis;
  and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Dick Hudson.
