R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of David Lester Lindow of Longview on April 5, 2025, at the |
|
age of 84; and |
|
WHEREAS, David Lindow was born in Chili, Wisconsin, on |
|
February 27, 1941, to Lester and Beulah Lindow; he grew up with the |
|
companionship of a brother, Jay, and he moved with his family to the |
|
Chicago area as a teenager; answering his nation's call to duty, he |
|
joined the U.S. Marines and served in the Vietnam War; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lindow and his wife, Marilyn, shared a rewarding |
|
marriage that spanned more than five decades, and they became the |
|
parents of three children, Erik, Alan, and Christine; with the |
|
passing years, their family grew to include four grandchildren and |
|
two great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Lindow sold auto parts for a time before moving |
|
in 1974 to Longview, where he worked as a mechanic and obtained his |
|
teaching certificate; he went on to enjoy a two-decade tenure with |
|
the Longview Independent School District as a vocational automobile |
|
mechanics instructor, and he took great pride in sharing his |
|
knowledge and expertise with his students; he also ran a wholesale |
|
flowering plant business alongside his wife for a number of years; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In his retirement, Mr. Lindow continued to work on |
|
cars, and he also devoted time to his sons' BMX racing activities; |
|
he also liked to hunt for rocks and gems, mostly in North Carolina |
|
and Arkansas, and he learned to facet gems and to cut and polish |
|
rocks; above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, with |
|
whom he enjoyed fishing and camping; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although David Lindow is deeply missed, those who |
|
held him dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness he |
|
brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby pay tribute to the memory of David Lester Lindow and extend |
|
sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Marilyn Lindow; to his sons, Erik Lindow and his wife, Holly, and |
|
Alan Lindow and his wife, Christy; to his grandchildren, Alexis |
|
Lindow-Owens, Brooklyn Lindow Vandre and her husband, Colton, |
|
Kristen Lindow, and Matthew Lindow; to his great-grandchildren, |
|
Baylor Owens-Peshoff and Caiden Lindow; and to his other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of David Lindow. |
