R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the passing of Randall Darrell Grooms Sr. of Tyler
  on April 25, 2025, at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Cleo and Thelma Grooms, Randall Grooms
  was born in Brownwood on March 29, 1936, and he grew up on a farm in
  Bangs with the companionship of four siblings, Dwayne, Marcus, and
  his twin sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn; answering his nation's call
  to duty, he proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve, ultimately
  retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Grooms met the love of his life, the former
  Henrietta Hill, when he was a young boy; the couple shared a
  rewarding marriage spanning nearly seven decades, and they were
  blessed with three children, Randy, Tawnya, and Twila; through the
  years, their family grew to include six grandchildren, Clayton,
  Carter, Cullen, Connor, Drew, and Silas, and five
  great-grandchildren, Annie, Walker, Poppy Jo, Fraser, and Teddy;
  and
         WHEREAS, After attending Howard Payne University, Mr. Grooms
  earned a bachelor's degree in animal science from Texas Tech
  University, and he went on to complete a master's degree at the
  University of Kentucky and a doctoral degree at the University of
  Georgia, where he also taught; over the course of a long and
  fulfilling career as a beef cattle specialist with the Texas A&M
  University Agricultural Research and Extension Center at Overton,
  he traveled across the globe, sharing his knowledge and expertise;
  in addition, he served as superintendent of the Intercollegiate
  Livestock Judging Contest at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo for
  30 years, and in 2017, the Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course was
  dedicated in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, Engaged in his community, Mr. Grooms volunteered
  with the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, and he was actively
  involved in Green Acres Baptist Church, where he served as a Bible
  study fellowship leader; in his leisure hours, he found pleasure in
  fishing, traveling, and playing dominoes; known for his quick wit,
  he was always ready with a good one-liner or joke that could light
  up a room; and
         WHEREAS, Randall Grooms treasured the time he spent in the
  company of his family and friends, and those he leaves behind will
  in turn cherish their memories of this kind and caring man; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Randall Darrell Grooms Sr. and
  extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Randall Grooms.
