SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the Port Neches-Groves High School Unified track and |
|
|
field team on winning the 2025 Unified Track and Field University |
|
|
Interscholastic League State Championship on April 25, 2025; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Unified track and field is a program under the |
|
|
University Interscholastic League and Special Olympics Texas |
|
|
that promotes social inclusion by enabling students with and |
|
|
without intellectual disabilities to train and compete together |
|
|
on the same team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Port Neches-Groves Unified team has |
|
|
demonstrated exceptional dedication, teamwork, and |
|
|
sportsmanship in earning this prestigious title, and these young |
|
|
athletes can take pride in their outstanding accomplishments; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As the only school in the area with a Unified |
|
|
team, Port Neches-Groves has set an inspiring example for other |
|
|
schools and communities across the state to incorporate Unified |
|
|
sports into their athletics programs and to foster greater |
|
|
leadership, connection, health, and shared achievement among all |
|
|
students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Unified track and field team are a source of |
|
|
tremendous pride to the students, coaches, and faculty of Port |
|
|
Neches-Groves High School and the Port Nueces, Groves, and |
|
|
surrounding communities, and the team members are indeed worthy |
|
|
of special recognition for their hard work and their outstanding |
|
|
performances during the track and field season; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the Port Neches-Groves High |
|
|
School Unified track and field team on winning the 2025 state |
|
|
championship and extend to all of the team's athletes and coaches |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
