SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Officer Marco Ramirez of the Corpus Christi Police |
|
|
Department on his selection as a recipient of the 2025 Top Cop |
|
|
Award from the National Association of Police Organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nominated for the award by his fellow officers, |
|
|
Marco Ramirez is one of only ten officers nationwide chosen to |
|
|
receive this prestigious honor, and he was recognized with a 2025 |
|
|
Top Cop Award by the National Association of Police Organizations |
|
|
at its 32nd annual ceremony held on May 12 in Washington, D.C.; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The National Association of Police Organizations |
|
|
was founded in 1978 and represents the interests of more than |
|
|
1,000 police units and over 240,000 law enforcement officers; |
|
|
each year, the organization pays tribute to individual law |
|
|
enforcement officers across the nation who have performed |
|
|
extraordinary acts of bravery and service during the previous |
|
|
year; the program aims to pay tribute to these exemplary |
|
|
individuals while highlighting the vital role of law enforcement |
|
|
in protecting communities across the nation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi and a graduate of the |
|
|
81st Police Academy, Officer Marco Ramirez has served with |
|
|
distinction with the Corpus Christi Police Department for three |
|
|
years; he is recognized for his heroic actions performed in the |
|
|
course of responding to a reported domestic disturbance |
|
|
incident, during which he rendered critical aid to Officer Kyle |
|
|
Hicks, who was fatally wounded in the line of duty; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Ramirez's courage, decisive action, and |
|
|
dedication to duty exemplify the highest ideals of law |
|
|
enforcement, and it is indeed fitting that he receive special |
|
|
recognition as one of our nation's heroes for his exemplary |
|
|
service and contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Officer Marco Ramirez on his |
|
|
selection as a recipient of the 2025 Top Cop Award and extend to |
|
|
him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
