R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
  passing of Thomas Morrell Terry Jr. of Cisco on March 30, 2025, at
  the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Cisco on December 8, 1937, Tommy Terry was
  the son of Thomas Terry Sr. and Zora Eppler Terry, and he grew up
  with the companionship of three siblings, Bill, Dorothy, and Wanda;
  he shared a rewarding union with his wife, Patsy, that spanned
  nearly four and a half decades until her passing in 1999; he was the
  proud father of four children, Jeffrey, Greg, Sydney, and Kim; with
  the passing years, his treasured family grew to include five
  grandchildren, Craig, Brittany, Steven, John, and Masyn, and
  several great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Terry lived in Mason and Anson; while a
  student at The University of Texas at Austin, he worked as a
  nighttime security guard at the State Capitol and as a nursing home
  administrator; in 1966, he got a job with the Humble Oil Company,
  which later became Exxon, and they moved to Baytown; for 30 years,
  he worked at the Baytown Refinery and was most proud of his
  involvement with the startup of the Fuels North area of the facility
  in the late '70s; he served as a mentor to countless coworkers over
  the years, and in 1996, he retired from his position as a chief
  operator at Exxon; and
         WHEREAS, A few years after his wife died, Mr. Terry bought a
  lake house in Cisco, and most mornings, he could be found at the
  local Dairy Queen socializing with friends; in his later years, he
  ran errands for the homebound, visited nursing home residents, and
  took friends to doctor appointments; his desire to help others was
  also demonstrated in the 1960s and '70s through his involvement in
  the Optimist Pee Wee football program, through which he purchased
  equipment for underprivileged children; and
         WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, Tommy Terry has
  left his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he
  will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Thomas Morrell Terry Jr. and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  children, Dr. Greg Terry and his wife, Laurie, Sydney Platt and her
  husband, Jack, and Kim Terry and her wife, Tacy; to his
  grandchildren, Craig Platt, Brittany Verwers, Steven Terry, John
  Terry, and Masyn Terry; to his great-grandchildren; to his special
  friend of 20 years, Marilyn Preston; and to his other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Tommy Terry.
