R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Sons of the Flag in Dallas has supported those
  impacted by burn injuries, their families, and the medical
  personnel dedicated to their treatment for more than 13 years; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2012 by Purple Heart recipient and
  former Navy SEAL Ryan "Birdman" Parrott, Sons of the Flag is a
  nonprofit organization that assists veteran, first responder, and
  civilian burn survivors by providing funding for research,
  fellowships, and support systems; over the years, the group has
  evolved from a statewide mission into a national effort; and
         WHEREAS, Sons of the Flag has funded fellowships at leading
  hospitals across the country, directly increasing the number of
  accredited burn surgeons; it also contributes to innovative
  breakthroughs in technologies and surgical procedures, including
  the shortwave infrared camera, which is used as an advanced and
  efficient method of triage; and
         WHEREAS, The group offers personalized assistance to
  survivors and their families, providing them with medical supplies
  and necessities, expense relief, and access to such resources as a
  pediatric support program; in addition, the organization advocates
  in behalf of these individuals to raise public awareness about the
  life-altering effects of burn injuries; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception, Sons of the Flag has improved
  the quality of life for countless people affected by burn injuries,
  and the organization is indeed deserving of recognition for its
  outstanding contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby honor Sons of the Flag for its service to burn survivors and
  extend to all those associated with the organization sincere best
  wishes for continued success with their vital work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  Senate.
