Carol Mendiola-Mooers |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |
|
|
to a close with the tragic passing of Carol L. Mendiola-Mooers of |
|
|
San Antonio on February 7, 2025, at the age of 48; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Homer and Christina Mendiola, the |
|
|
former Carol Mendiola was born in San Antonio on August 19, 1976, |
|
|
and she grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Sharon |
|
|
and Adrian; she studied at schools in Turkey and Germany during |
|
|
her youth before returning to San Antonio and attending the |
|
|
Ursuline Academy; she graduated in 1994 from Incarnate Word High |
|
|
School, and she went on to earn a bachelor's degree from The |
|
|
University of Texas at San Antonio and a master's degree from |
|
|
Texas A&M University-San Antonio; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering her nation's call to duty, she enlisted |
|
|
in the United States Army in 2001, and she served during |
|
|
Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; while on |
|
|
active duty, she met her future husband, Rodney Mooers, and the |
|
|
couple later married and became the proud parents of two sons, |
|
|
Aaron and Hunter; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A devoted educator, Mrs. Mendiola-Mooers taught |
|
|
at Memorial High School in the Edgewood Independent School |
|
|
District from 2007 to 2012, and she went on to serve as a |
|
|
counselor at Harlandale ISD; at the time of her passing, she was a |
|
|
counselor in the underserved community of Unalakleet, Alaska, |
|
|
where she was a dedicated member of the Unalakleet School's |
|
|
staff; she was also a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic |
|
|
Church, and she had a great love of people, travel, history, and |
|
|
the arts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Carol Mendiola-Mooers is greatly missed, |
|
|
she has left her family and friends with many cherished memories, |
|
|
and she will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Carol L. |
|
|
Mendiola-Mooers and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of |
|
|
her family: to her husband, Rodney Mooers; to her sons, Aaron and |
|
|
Hunter Mooers; to her parents, Homer and Christina Mendiola; to |
|
|
her siblings, Sharon Florence and Adrian Mendiola; and to her |
|
|
many other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Carol Mendiola-Mooers. |
