Gene Welch |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close on |
|
|
April 11, 2025, with the passing of Gene Welch of Wake Village at |
|
|
the age of 90; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Gene Welch was born to Clyde and Dorothy Welch on |
|
|
October 19, 1934, in Rolla, Missouri, and grew up sharing in the |
|
|
companionship of his two sisters, Patricia and Sharon; at the age |
|
|
of 14, he embarked on a successful career as a truck driver, and |
|
|
he continued to work in the industry until his passing; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Welch |
|
|
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; after |
|
|
returning to civilian life, he maintained his connection with the |
|
|
military as president of the Korean War Veterans Association and |
|
|
as a member of the VFW and the American Legion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Welch shared a |
|
|
rewarding marriage with his wife, Martha, that spanned 67 years, |
|
|
and he took great pride in their children, Mitch, Don, and |
|
|
Kimberly; through the years, he had the pleasure of seeing his |
|
|
family grow to include numerous grandchildren and |
|
|
great-grandchildren; in his leisure hours, he enjoyed watching |
|
|
the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers and taking part in outdoor |
|
|
activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his |
|
|
country, Gene Welch earned the lasting respect and admiration of |
|
|
all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Gene Welch and |
|
|
extend sincere condolences to his relatives and friends; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Gene Welch. |
