SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 654

In Memory |

|
Hoover Price |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
|
passing of Hoover Price of Texarkana on April 12, 2025, at the age |
|
|
of 95; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Eugene and Mary Price, Hoover Price was |
|
|
born in Marietta on July 11, 1929; he completed his early |
|
|
education in Floyd County, and he moved to Texarkana following |
|
|
high school to take a job as a forklift driver with the Red River |
|
|
Army Depot; after leaving to work for W. S. Dickey Clay |
|
|
Manufacturing Company for a brief period, he returned to RRAD in |
|
|
1967 and eventually retired from the company in 1990; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Price was married to Faye Lavern Price, and he |
|
|
took great pride in their three children, Faye, Shelia, and |
|
|
Kenneth, as well as his stepson, Anthony; a man of strong faith, |
|
|
he attended New Town Baptist Church for a number of years before |
|
|
becoming a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he |
|
|
served as a deacon and taught Sunday School; in his leisure |
|
|
hours, he enjoyed bush hogging, hunting, and gardening; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Hoover Price |
|
|
will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth and |
|
|
compassion, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Hoover Price and |
|
|
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
|
children, Faye Price-Banton, Shelia Price-Williams, and Kenneth |
|
|
Price I and his wife, Doris; to his stepson, Anthony Chapple and |
|
|
his wife, Linda; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
|
this day, it do so in memory of Hoover Price. |
