R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Hoover Price of Texarkana on April 12, 2025, at the age |
|
of 95; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Eugene and Mary Price, Hoover Price was |
|
born in Marietta on July 11, 1929; he completed his early education |
|
in Floyd County, and he moved to Texarkana following high school to |
|
take a job as a forklift driver with the Red River Army Depot; after |
|
leaving to work for W. S. Dickey Clay Manufacturing Company for a |
|
brief period, he returned to RRAD in 1967 and eventually retired |
|
from the company in 1990; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Price was married to Faye Lavern Price, and he |
|
took great pride in their three children, Faye, Shelia, and |
|
Kenneth, as well as his stepson, Anthony; a man of strong faith, he |
|
attended New Town Baptist Church for a number of years before |
|
becoming a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where he |
|
served as a deacon and taught Sunday School; in his leisure hours, |
|
he enjoyed bush hogging, hunting, and gardening; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Hoover Price |
|
will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth and |
|
compassion, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby pay tribute to the memory of Hoover Price and extend sincere |
|
condolences to the members of his family: to his children, Faye |
|
Price-Banton, Shelia Price-Williams, and Kenneth Price I and his |
|
wife, Doris; to his stepson, Anthony Chapple and his wife, Linda; |
|
and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Hoover Price. |
