SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 660
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Samuel Reeves
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Samuel Eugene Reeves of De Kalb on January 30, 2025, at
  the age of 80; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Hughlin and Etta Ballard Reeves, Sam
  Reeves was born in Port Arthur on September 14, 1944; he married
  the former Judy Kay Sellars in 1970, and the couple shared a
  fulfilling union that spanned more than five decades; he was the
  proud father of three children, Timothy, Rebecca, and Rachel, and
  with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his
  treasured family grow to include two granddaughters; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Reeves enjoyed a rewarding 37-year career as
  an educator with the DeKalb Independent School District, where he
  made a lasting, positive impact on countless lives; a man of
  strong faith, he was a minister at New Hope Missionary Baptist
  Church, and he further benefited his community as president of
  the nonprofit organization De Kalb Kares; in his leisure hours,
  he enjoyed fishing and leatherworking; and
         WHEREAS, Although Sam Reeves is greatly missed, this
  beloved man has left his family and friends with many cherished
  memories, and he will forever hold a special place in their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Samuel Eugene
  Reeves and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Judy Reeves; to his daughter, Rachel Sims;
  to his granddaughters, Hannah and Michaela Sims; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Sam Reeves.
