R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
  with the passing of Gary Daniel Penkilo of Tyler on March 30, 2025,
  at the age of 57; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Daniel and Mary Penkilo, Gary Penkilo was
  born in Parkville, Maryland, on July 7, 1967, and in 1978, he moved
  with his family to Kerrville; following his graduation from Tivy
  High School, he earned a bachelor of business administration degree
  at The University of Texas at Austin in 1990; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Penkilo embarked on a 28-year career with the
  Henry and Peters accounting firm in 1996; he became a certified
  public accountant two years later, and in 2004, he was named a
  partner at the firm; highly respected, he earned a reputation for
  his calm counsel, and he cultivated lasting friendships with many
  of his clients; civically engaged, he was active in the Tyler Area
  Chamber of Commerce Contact Club, Order of the Rose, and Leadership
  Tyler Class XV, and he served as treasurer for the American Cancer
  Society Cattle Baron's Gala; moreover, he was also involved in such
  organizations as Champions for Children; and
         WHEREAS, In February 2002, Mr. Penkilo met the love of his
  life, the former Monica Phillips, and they wed on May 31, 2003; the
  couple shared more than two decades together, and they became the
  proud parents of two daughters, Ava and Anna; Mr. Penkilo attended
  Green Acres Baptist Church, where he and his wife served in the
  children's ministry; he cherished time spent with his family on
  trips to Pebble Beach, California, as well as to New York City and
  WaterColor, Florida; he closely followed all UT Longhorn sports,
  especially football, and he was an avid golfer; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Gary
  Penkilo modeled a life of faith, integrity, and perseverance, and
  he will forever remain a vibrant presence for those who knew and
  loved him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gary Daniel Penkilo and extend
  deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Monica Phillips Penkilo; to his daughters, Ava Hope Penkilo and
  Anna Grace Penkilo; to his sister, Jeannine Luenser; to his
  brother-in-law, Chris Phillips, and his wife, Lindsay; to his
  nephews and nieces, Kenneth Luenser and his wife, Lilly, Steven and
  Matthew Luenser, and Hailey, Caden, and Hannah Phillips; to his
  great-niece, Poppy; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Gary Penkilo.
