R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The life of an esteemed Vietnam War veteran drew to a
  close with the passing of Mack Carl Easley Sr. of Texarkana on March
  2, 2025, at the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, Mack Easley was born on September 23, 1949, to
  Winston and Thelma Easley, and he grew up in New Boston with the
  companionship of a sister, Shirley; and
         WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Easley
  served with the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam; in
  November 1968, he and his fellow soldiers were defending Army Fire
  Support Base Rita near the Cambodia border when they came under
  surprise attack by North Vietnamese troops; demonstrating
  tremendous courage in the fierce battle that followed, he helped
  the American forces defeat the enemy and was subsequently awarded
  the Bronze Star and Silver Star Medals as well as two Purple Hearts
  for being wounded in combat; after ending his 12-year military
  tenure as a physician assistant, he worked until retirement as a
  health administrator for the Federal Bureau of Prisons; he went on
  to volunteer at the National Park Service Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  in Washington, D.C.; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Easley enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Bonnie; he was the devoted father of four
  children, Rhonda, Melissa, Kathryn, and Mack, and he cherished time
  spent with his five grandchildren; his interests included
  traveling, photography, and exploring the outdoors; and
         WHEREAS, While the death of Mack Easley brings great sadness
  to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy of valor and
  service that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mack Carl Easley Sr. and extend
  heartfelt condolences to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Bonnie Easley; to his children, Rhonda Eernisse, Melissa Latham,
  Kathryn Omerso, and Mack Easley Jr.; to his former spouse, Nancy
  Easley; to his grandchildren, Haiden Latham, Rhyan Latham, Harrison
  Easley, Silas Omerso, and Darcy Omerso; and to his other relatives
  and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Mack Easley.
