R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Janita Ann Barnes of Longview on
  April 21, 2025, at the age of 77; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Bettie Schindler and Buell Brinson,
  the former Janita Brinson was born in Tyler on March 13, 1948, and
  grew up with the companionship of three siblings, Brenda, Karen,
  and David; during her years at Longview High School, she met her
  future husband, Buford Ray "Bubba" Barnes, and the couple went on to
  share a fulfilling marriage that spanned nearly 58 years before his
  passing in 2022; they became the parents of three daughters, Kim,
  Stacy, and Tammy, and through the years, the family grew to include
  numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, After earning her licensed vocational nursing
  certification, Mrs. Barnes embarked on a rewarding career in health
  care, and she later obtained an associate's degree in nursing from
  Kilgore College; a longtime member of the staff at the Diagnostic
  Clinic of Longview, she played an important role in establishing
  the OB/GYN department and in expanding the clinic's obstetrics
  services, and she ultimately retired as the supervisor of nursing
  services; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnes was an active member of Trinity Baptist
  Church for more than five decades, assisting the congregation in
  such roles as Sunday school teacher, Acteens leader, and youth
  worker; during her retirement years, she put her considerable
  culinary skills to work by volunteering in the church kitchen, and
  she also provided support to HeartsWay Hospice of Northeast Texas;
  and
         WHEREAS, In all aspects of her life, Janita Barnes
  demonstrated a remarkable ability to comfort and care for others,
  and memories of her warmth and compassion will continue to inspire
  all those who had the good fortune to know her; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Janita Ann Barnes and extend
  sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her daughters,
  Kim Jenkins and her husband, Mike, Stacy Barnes, and Tammy Trichel
  and her husband, Billy; to her grandchildren, Chelsea and Steven
  Christopher, Courtney Jenkins, Connor Griffith, Camryn Griffith,
  Matthew and Carleigh Trichel, and Hannah Trichel; to her
  great-grandchildren, Beau and Bella Christopher; to her sisters,
  Brenda Skornik and Karen Bochow; to her brother, David Brinson; to
  her aunt, Diane Kleam; to her cousin, Kristi Sampson; and to her
  many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Janita Barnes.
