SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 693
         WHEREAS, The San Antonio Coalition for Veterans and
  Families has rendered exceptional service to local military
  personnel, veterans, and their families; and
         WHEREAS, SACVF was established by Lieutenant Colonel
  Hector V. Villarreal, a Vietnam veteran and contributor to the
  book, Back from War: Finding Hope & Understanding in Life After
  Combat; initially known as the San Antonio Coalition for
  Veterans, the nonprofit has helped to meet the needs of current
  and future service members, veterans, families, caregivers, and
  survivors in the greater San Antonio area; in 2013, the
  organization adopted its current name, the San Antonio Coalition
  for Veterans and Families; and
         WHEREAS, SACVF's 1-on-1 Veteran Assistance Program offers
  confidential, personalized services to veterans and military
  families who may not have access to resources provided by other
  nonprofits and government agencies; the organization also works
  with more than 255 veteran service providers in the community to
  develop solutions to issues impacting veterans, and it hosts
  monthly meetings and community forums to share information and
  discuss key topics such as PTSD, service animals, and VA
  benefits; in addition, the organization educates other groups,
  companies, and programs about ways to help; and
         WHEREAS, Through its efforts to raise awareness and foster
  support for Texas veterans and their families, SACVF has set an
  outstanding example of civic engagement, and the organization is
  to be commended for its many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, hereby honor the San Antonio Coalition for Veterans
  and Families for its service to the military community and extend
  to all those affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the coalition as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
