FISCAL NOTE, 89TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2025

TO:
Honorable Brad Buckley, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB213 by González, Mary (Relating to the inclusion of chronically absent students as students at risk of dropping out of school and the collection and reporting of data regarding those students.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The bill would require school districts to track if a student is chronically absent and report to TEA, and determine if a student is at-risk of dropping out of school, if flagged as chronically absent.
