No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would add community supervision and corrections department officers, juvenile probation officers, and certain retired law enforcement officers to the list of individuals to which the criminal offenses of unlawful carrying of a weapon and carrying a weapon at certain places do not apply. The bill would also expand the conduct constituting the felony offense of taking or attempting to take a weapon from certain individuals working in public safety to include taking or attempting to take a weapon from a juvenile probation officer.
It is assumed that any fiscal impact and any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.
Local Government Impact
It is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
